METRONOMY… home-made squelchy casiofunk, delicate tumbling electronica, and a bit of the old oom-pah-pah. metronomy have tiny casios, snarly guitars, melodicas, saxophones, ‘ooo ooo’s, and a variety of subtle dance routines, but their indie hit ‘you could easily have me’ and general POP wonkiness reminds us a lot of DEVO. sellotape a JML push-lamp to your chest and DANCE! Metronomy have remixed Franz Ferdinand, Ladytron and Bright Eyes, but the live show is definitely something all of their own. “kraftwerk playing ska”? this will be one of the most memorable performances you’ll see this year.
PRINTED CIRCUIT… for fans of 80s synth pop, 2Unlimited and computer games that only had 16 colours. Claire has recruited a permanent vocalist with a filthy mouth. All members are required to wave glowsticks. You better get the friggin poppers out for this one.
RUN HIDE SURVIVE… Sheffield synth pop/ disco/ electro group, influenced by folk like Daft Punk, New Order, Talking Heads and Talk Talk. Wear dancing shoes. In fact don’t bother wearing any shoes at all.
